Hi! This is Adan Olachea

Hi there! My name is Adan Olachea and this is my first entry to Blogger! I am so happy to start working on this site as a personal and professional diary, especially because of all the ideas I have in my head and want to be registered and shared somewhere.

Just as an introduction, I live in Ensenada, Mexico which is a city 60 miles (100km) south Tijuana.. and sort of 180 miles from Los Angeles, California... so most of the cultural influence comes from the USA and specifically, south California. The Pacific Ocean is something I can see just by stepping out of my department, which is amazingly good for inspiration.

Should add that writing is not one of my passions, but I like to have a record of all I do. To be honest, I could describe myself as a maker. I looove to make stuff, from house improvements, cooking, and car maintenance to one of my most precious passions, electronics.

I studied Electronics Engineering at a local university called "Universidad Autonoma de Baja California". That was my "alma mater", but then I went a little further and studied for my master's degree in Electronics and Telecommunications, specializing in audio streaming through data networks, such as the Internet.

I mentioned earlier that I am a maker because I really am, my first job was as a Mechanical Design Engineer for an American company called "Navico", where the main products are marine electronics for fishing, such as radars and GPS locators. There, I was in charge of operating and maintaining an industrial 3D Printer. I was also involved in mechanical stress tests such as impact, drop, and temperature tests for marine electronics.

This "Mechanical Design" adventure happened just after I finished my undergrad studies and before the master's degree. It was hard but I had to resign from that job to get back to electronics because that is truly what I was looking for to work as a professional.

After I finished the Master's Degree... well, I wanted to work in the real world and joined a sort-of spin-off from the worldwide corporation called Synaptics. There, I joined the Audio products department.

So, in my family, every time I meet someone new I am asked what I do for a living... well... it's probably not that simple hehe. I could say I am a micro-chip programmer? Or maybe an audio headset builder? That is a tricky question as formally I work as an Embedded Software Engineer which for mortals just sounds like.. a programmer haha.

But I do more things, I test new products, help bring up new designs and also get involved in demonstrations for customers, and bring support to customers once they have bought and integrated our chips into their products.

All of this just had me working with top-notch coworkers and being able to see new and amazing technologies emerging from ideas to real life, which is a very very amazing experience.

As you can see, I do make things but also like programming and electronic stuff. So, this blog will be like a board on a wall full of all my personal projects, inventions, and all the maker's stuff I can put on it.

Welcome and please please, reach out to me if you have any doubts, suggestions, ideas, or jokes you want to share with me.

Thanks,

Adan Olachea
